German experts collaborate to conserve farmland soil

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Today, on July 26, an experience sharing meeting on soil analysis methods was held between Mongolian and German experts at the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry.

G. Erdenetsetseg, Senior Officer at the Agriculture Policy Implementation and Coordination Department, Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, said the Mongolia-Germany joint project - Sustainable Agriculture is integrating Mongolia’s soil analysis methods and methodologies, mentioning that recommendations are under development. The importance of international standard quality assurance system in harmonizing the methods was also highlighted.


At the meeting, researcher L.Bayartulga and Professor of the Hohenheim University of Germany Karl Stahr introduced the current soil analysis methods of their countries and Head of the Soil-agrochemical laboratory of the Mongolian University of Life Sciences A.Javkhalantuya and Agronomist of Gatsuurt LLC Kh,Ganzorig – the methods in effect at their workplaces.

Sustainable Agriculture project leader Alfred Kather said, “Our project is aimed for sustainable conservation of farmland soil. To achieve this, we have to deal with soil analysis methods before discussing field use issues”
