Foreign Minister attends ASEAN Regional ForumPolitics
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Minister of Foreign Affairs D.Tsogtbaatar participated in the 26th Ministerial meeting of the ASEAN Regional Forum held on August 2 in Bangkok, Thailand.
At the meeting, Foreign Minister delivered remarks introducing Mongolia’s position and actions on some pressing issues of international security and expressing his thoughts on future tendency of the forum. He emphasized that the forum played a crucial role in strengthening security and defense cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region over the past two decades and that it has become a major mechanism that discusses regional political and security issues. He proposed to organize an informal meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Northeast Asia within the frames of the forum.
Minister D.Tsogtbaatar highlighted the importance of youth participation in overcoming non traditional threats and challenges the world is facing, introducing Mongolia’s initiatives on encouraging youth participation.
During the conference, Foreign Minister held bilateral meetings with his Chinese, Japanese, Indian, New Zealand counterparts and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, exchanging views on some issues of bilateral and international relations.
