President gets acquainted with construction of ‘New soum’ in Khalkhgol

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ President of Mongolia Kh.Battulga got acquainted with the construction of ‘New soum’ project in Khalkhgol soum of Dornod aimag.
The redevelopment of Khalkhgol soum is being implemented under the joint celebration of the 80th anniversary of the victory of Khalkhin Gol Battle with the Russian Federation. While attending the Eastern Economic forum, President Kh.Battulga presented the project to President V.Putin and the Russian side expressed readiness to solve the funding. Within the frames of redevelopment project, construction of 11 facilities including 250-seat cultural center, 20 bed hospital, school designed for 650 children, kindergarten for 150 children, dormitory with capacity of 180 children and sports center are under construction. The construction work is being implemented by the general contractor of the project Ikh Modun LLC and over 500 people, including 120 military servants and 200 senior officers are taking part.
During his visit, President noted “We developed the 20th century rural policy in the 1950’s and 60’s. Now it’s necessary to develop the rural policy of the 21st century. It is also important to focus on how people should live in the modern era and how to sustain the herders’ income. Khalkhgol soum, which is located from over 1000 km from Ulaanbaatar, has the potential to develop crop farming and export to the neighboring cities and country. In other words, the state policy should support the development by building local processing plants. At the meeting with the Russian President, we agreed to make a tangible contribution to the soum on the occasion of the 80th anniversary rather than just organizing a festival. As a result, the construction of redevelopment project commenced. It is expected that the construction will wrap up on the anniversary that will occur on September 3, 2019. We must redevelop over 100 remote soums in rural areas in such manner.”
