Animal identification and registration project to run in Uvurkhangai aimag
Economy | AgricultureUvurkhangai /MONTSAME/. The
Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry and the UN Food and
Agriculture Organization (FAO) are jointly implementing a project on animal
identification, registration system and improving the system on recording and
traceability in Mongolia.
Bayangol, Bat-Ulzii, Guchin-Us and Uyanga soums of Uvurkhangai
aimag will be involved in the project.
On August 20, FAO
Representative Vinod Ahuja and Technology &
Innovation Consultant at FAO Shardendu Banerji and others arrived to Uvurkhangai
aimag, where they met with chairman of the aimag’s citizens’ representative
meeting and aimag authorities, specialists of food and agriculture as well as veterinary departments and introduced the project.
Within the project,
livestock will be registered and earmarked with a purpose to identify origins
of livestock, improve thier quality and benefits and reduce livestock theft.
