Mongolia’s initiative for group of LLDCs in WTO introduced
EconomyUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ S.Sukhbold, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations took part in a session on trade facilitation held in New York on December 6 within the framework of the comprehensive High-level Midterm review on the implementation of the Vienna Programme of Action for Landlocked Developing Countries for the Decade 2014–2024.
At the
meeting, representatives from landlocked developing and transit countries exchanged
views on trade facilitation, transit systems, and the role of economic
corridors in the development of LLDCs and reported on the implementation of the
Trade Facilitation Agreement of the World Trade Organization and the
opportunities for bringing more benefits to LLDCs.
Ambassador
S.Sukhbold informed of the progress of national implementation of WTO Trade
Facilitation Agreement such as the establishment of an economic corridor and free trade
agreements. He also noted about Mongolia’s initiative on setting up a group of
LLDCs in WTO with the purpose of protecting the countries’ rights, and
coordinating trade and expressed readiness to cooperate with LLDCs in this
regard.
