Mongolia’s action for improving social protection introduced
SocietyUlaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. Deputy Minister of Labor and Social
Protection S.Mungunchimeg attended the 58th Session of the Commission for
Social Development (CSocD58) held on February 10-19 at the United Nations
Headquarters in New York.
Involving high-level representatives from 86 member states
and 35 international organizations, the CSocD85 mainly discussed issues related to affordable housing and social protection systems for all
to address homelessness.
During the event, Deputy Minister S.Mungunchimeg informed
about Mongolian government policy and actions for improving the target group's
livelihood and satisfying their social protection.
Mentioning the step-by-steps of Mongolian government for
improving social protection and living environment of the citizens,
Ms.Mungunchimeg briefed that the adoption of a package law on Social Protection
in 1995 established a legal background to give welfare services to citizens and
that the citizens are receiving a total of 72 kinds of social welfare services
in accordance with the law.
CSocD58 participants unanimously concurred that the implementation
of Sustainable Development Goals is a way to improve the social protection and
living environment of vulnerable people.
CSocD58 was featured with the celebration of the 75th
anniversary of the Commission and the 25th anniversary of the Copenhagen
Declaration on Social Development.
