Views exchanged on collaboration for business and human rights
PoliticsUlaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. State Secretary of the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs D.Davaasuren yesterday met with UNDP Resident Representative in
Mongolia Ms. Elaine Conkievich.
Mr. Davaasuren emphasized that the implementation of the UN
Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights will be an essential step to
strengthen businesses with respect for human rights and ensure sustainable
development in Mongolia.
He expressed appreciation to UNDP for its support and
collaboration to formulate the national action plan on business and human
rights.
Ms.Elaine Conkievich said that the UNDP highly praises active
and unwavering work of the Government of Mongolia to implement the Guiding
Principles on Business and Human Rights and develop a national action plan in
this area. Underlining the importance of
ensuring the participation of women and businesses in the process of developing
the national action plan, Ms. Elain Conkievich expressed commitment to co-work
in this direction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Working Group
responsible for formulating the national action plan.
The UN Human Rights Council endorsed the UN Guiding
Principles on Business and Human Rights in June 2011. Following the
recommendation for the Government of Mongolia to implement the UN Guiding
Principles, a working group with multi-stakeholders responsible for formulating
the national action plan on business and human rights was set up in 2019 by
order of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
