Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. Within its program ‘Strengthening partner countries in the area of security, defense and stabilization’, the Federal Ministry of Defence will grant EUR 1 million to Mongolia to procure medical devices, medicines and protective equipment for Central Military Hospital.

On June 12, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Mongolia, Mr. Jörn Rosenberg and Defence Minister N.Enkhbold signed an agreement on the grant to help Mongolia fight COVID-19.

During the signing ceremony, Minister of Defense N.Enkhbold emphasized that the Central Military Hospital is one of the main hospitals to isolate and treat patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. “Improving medical equipment and providing financial assistance for the purchase of protective equipment and pharmaceuticals during this difficult time has become a significant impetus for the risk-free operations of doctors, nurses and medical staff, as well as the improvement in service delivery to the military staff and civilians,” said the Minister.

Ambassador Jörn Rosenberg said, "We must join efforts to overcome the pandemic that threatens the global. We hope the assistance can be a support to Mongolia’s response to COVID-19."

In addition, 20 portable respirators will be provided for use in medical service, emergency and disasters by Mongolian Armed Forces and peacekeepers.
