Animal health care service to be improved in gobi region

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Inter-Soum Animal Health Care
Center in Khanbogd soum of Umnugobi aimag that was built under a project
financed by the Gobi Oyu Development Support Fund sponsored by Oyu Tolgoi LLC is
to work directly under the General Authority for Veterinary Services (GAVS).
On June 16, GAVS Director General D.Tumendemberel and Oyu Tolgoi Operations Director Tim Eckersley signed an agreement to cooperate in stabilizing the operation of the Inter-Soum Animal Health Care Center and improving livestock health and animal health care services.
Under the agreement, the sides will work together to
enhance veterinary services through scientific research, improve livestock quality
and productivity, and upgrade the regional agricultural product quality management
system. The animal health care center in Khanbogd soum will become
an institution that provides all kinds of livestock services regionally,
thereby supporting the regional livestock sector in the long term.
The sides emphasized that the partnership is of great
importance as it also contributes to the realization of the Laws on Animal
Health and Law on Livestock Gene Pool.
The Inter-Soum Animal Health Care Center in Khanbogd soum
of Umnugobi aimag was built with MNT 1.4 billion from the Gobi Oyu Development
Support Fund and opened in the spring of 2018 to contribute to food security in
the region, growth of regional livestock sector and value-added production, and
the livelihoods of herders by increasing livestock productivity and preventing and
treating animal diseases.
