The United States ready to work with Mongolia’s next government

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A statement issued by the U.S. Department of State on Thursday, June 25 reads “The United States commends the people of Mongolia for exercising their unalienable right to vote in the parliamentary elections on June 24, the eighth such elections since Mongolia’s peaceful democratic revolution in 1990. We are proud to be Mongolia’s “third neighbor” and strategic partner in ensuring peace and security in the Indo-Pacific. We look forward to working with Mongolia’s next government to continue building on that partnership and further strengthening our shared democratic values and Mongolia’s sovereignty and independence.”
As of the preliminary results, the ruling party
in the current parliament – Mongolian People’s Party gained the majority or 62
seats in the 76-seat parliament, while the opposing Democratic Party won 11
seats. Voter turnout was reported to be at 73.64 percent on the
national level.
