National currency in circulation reaches MNT 987.3 billion

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The money supply (M2) reached MNT
21.2 trillion at the end of June 2020, increased by MNT 966.0 billion (4.8%)
compared with the same period of the previous year. The main reason for this
increase was resulted from MNT 1.4 trillion (47.1%) increase of time deposits
in foreign currency, MNT 105.4 billion (4.7%) increase of current account in
foreign currency
The national currency in circulation reached MNT 987.3
billion at the end of June 2020 and showing an increase of MNT 13.2 billion
(1.4%) from the previous month and an increase of MNT 50.2 billion (5.4%) from
the same period of the previous year.
At the end of June 2020, the total amount of outstanding
loan to entities and individuals amounted to MNT 17.4 trillion, increased by
MNT 187.4 billion (1.1%) from the previous month, while it is decreased by MNT
845.3 billion (4.6%) from the same period of the previous year. In the total
outstanding loans, MNT 8.8 trillion (50.9%) was individual loans.
At the end of June 2020, the non-performing loans in the
banking system amounted to MNT 1.9 trillion, decreased by MNT 53.2 billion
(2.7%) from the previous month, while it is increased by MNT 5.0 billion (0.3%)
from the previous year. The non-performing loans in the banking system make up to
11.0% of total loans, showing an increase of 0.5 percentage point from the same
period of the previous year.
In the first six months of 2020, securities worth of MNT
23.5 billion were traded at the national stock market, which is decreased by
MNT 84.9 billion (78.3%) compared to the same period of previous year.
In June 2020, 58.4 million pieces of securities worth of MNT
7.2 billion were traded at the national stock market, which is decreased by MNT
14.7 billion (67.2%), while traded amount increased by 24.2 million (70.8%)
pieces of securities compared to the same period of the previous year.
The monthly average exchange rate of MNT to US dollars
announced from Bank of Mongolia in June 2020 was MNT 2816.26 to one USD,
depreciated by 6.1% from the same period of the previous year and by 0.7% from
the previous month.
