Discussion held on possible ADB assistance in mitigating impact of pandemic on food security in Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. Asian Development Bank’s East Asia
Department (EARD), Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department (SDCC),
and Private Sector Operations Department (PSOD) on 17 August discussed with the
Government of Mongolia the possible ADB assistance in mitigating the impact of the
pandemic on food insecurity in Mongolia.
In his opening remarks, Qingfeng Zhang, Director of Environment,
Natural Resources and Agriculture Division (EAER) of the East Asia Regional
Department highlighted the importance of strengthening the resilience of food
supply chains to the food insecurity risk. EAER's Shingo Kimura presented the
scope and implementation arrangements of possible technical assistance on
managing the risk of food insecurity under pandemic while PSOD’s John Jeong and
SDCC's Michiko Katagami shared their perspectives on nonsovereign operations
and knowledge support. Representatives from the ministries of Food, Agriculture
and Light Industry, and Finance participated in the discussion.
Discussion participants include officials from the Ministry
of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, Investment Officer at ADB Mongolia
Resident Mission Enerelt Enkhbold, PSOD’s John Juhyun Jeong, an official from
the Ministry of Finance, EAER Director Qingfeng Zhang, EAER’s Shingo Kimura and
Jan Hinrichs.
