Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ MP, Chair of Parliamentary Standing Committee on State Structure L.Enkh-Amgalan on October 27 met with Resident representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Mongolia Elaine Conkievich to discuss progress of the UNDP project ‘Towards a Professional and Citizen-centered Civil Service in Mongolia’ that started in 2018.

UNDP Resident Representative Elaine Conkievich highlighted the importance of addressing high government staff turnover that comes after elections and that making replacements during COVID-19 could affect civil service, expressing readiness to cooperate with the State Great Khural and the Civil Service Council.

“The new Law on Civil Service states that the core civil service shall be free from political influence and based on the merit principle. The standing committee is focusing on the challenges faced in implementing the law” MP L.Enkh-Amgalan said, undertaking to work on ensuring good governance.
