Mongolian President holds online meeting with President of European Commission

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On January 28, President of Mongolia
Kh. Battulga held an online meeting with the President of the European
Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
Regarding the ongoing bilateral talks on the priorities within the EU multi-annual indicative program, President Battulga asked to pay more attention to the practical support for economic, business and private sector cooperation.
In particular, the President emphasized the possibility of
developing the value-added and mutually beneficial industry by combining resources
of the Mongolian agricultural sector and know-how and advanced technology of
the European countries. By doing so, it will open up a wide range of
opportunities to supply Mongolian products to the European Union and to our two neighboring markets.
To achieve this goal, Mongolia is attaching importance to
the construction of processing industry infrastructure, said the President,
providing information on the implementation of mega projects such as the construction
of a railway in the Gobi and Darkhan Leather Complex in the central region.
He also informed the completion of the study on establishing
an over 1000-km irrigation system in the scope of combating climate changes and
mitigating desertification in Mongolian Gobi, and it is ready for the construction work.
Moreover, they exchanged views on the response to the COVID-19
pandemic and the protection of public health. The President expressed his
confidence that the EU and its member states would support Mongolia’s purchase of
vaccines.
For her part, Ms. Ursula von der Leyen stressed that the
world countries would overcome the pandemic with joint efforts and expressed readiness
to work together to make the proposals of the Mongolian President actual work.
