L.Oyun-Erdene: Tuv aimag should be developed under city statusVideo
Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene today got acquainted with activities of the “Ulaanbaatar Railway” Joint Venture and 'Bogdkhan railway' line to be constructed from Rashaant station of Batsumber soum of Tuv aimag to Maanit station crossing the New Airport constructed in Hushig valley in Tuv aimag. The PM visited a place called “Davaanii zurlug” or a railroad junction, where 'Bogdkhan Railway' will pass through.
With commissioning of the 'Bogdkhan Railway', export products such as iron ore will be transported from Selenge and Darkhan-Uul aimags through this railway in the first turn, in addition to transit freight transportation which is made to Russia and China.
60 percent of all freight transportation will be made through this bypass line. The Asian Development Bank has announced international bid to develop feasibility study of the railway and cost for the study is USD 1.5 million. There are currently two versions of preliminary investment estimation for the construction of 104-km railroad, which are USD 860 million and USD 500 million, Ulaanbaatar Railway JVC reports.
During the meeting, the PM remarked that Tuv aimag should be developed under city status. After taking his office, the PM said that increasing jobs in rural areas and developing them will push to decentralization.
