Foreign Minister addresses the LLDCS’ ministerial meeting

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Landlocked Developing Countries, have met virtually on 23 September 2021, at the margins of the 76th Session of the UN General Assembly.


Mr. Abdulla Shahid, President of the 76th Session of the UN General Assembly, Mr. Courtney Rattray, UN Under-Secretary General and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States and the representatives of transit countries and international organizations joined the meeting together with foreign ministers.


H.E. Mrs. Battsetseg Batmunkh, Minister for Foreign Affairs addressed the Annual Meeting and she highlighted the impacts of COVID-19 pandemic on Mongolian economy, trade, infrastructure, the challenges faced and the measures towards accelerating the implementation of the Vienna Program of Action and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In her address, Foreign Minister underscored the activities and researches undertaken by the Ulaanbaatar-based International Think-Tank for LLDCs and called upon member states, development partners and other stakeholders to support this organization’s work.


During the meeting Armenia, Botswana, Burundi, Mongolia, Nepal and Paraguay have been elected to serve in the Bureau of the Group of LLDCs for 2022-2023.


The Meeting adopted a Ministerial Declaration at its conclusion.
