Ceremonial meeting of parliamentary session to take place in Kharkhorin

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the Victory of the National Liberation Movement and the Restoration of Independence, a ceremonial meeting of the parliamentary session will take place in Kharkhorin soum, Uvurkhangai aimag, where Kharkhorum, the capital of the Mongol Empire once stood.
The 1911 revolution for national liberation is a historic event as the country was able to bring an end to the rule of the Qing dynasty, which continued for over 200 years. On December 29, 1911, Mongolia declared its independence and established the Bogd Khanate of Mongolia.
The ceremonial meeting of the parliamentary session will involve foreign and domestic guests and representatives virtually, due to the current pandemic situation. As for the parliament members, they will participate in a discussion on the development of Orkhon Valley, which was once an economic and cultural center connecting the east and west during the Mongol Empire.
The National Liberation and Independence Day has been celebrated as a national holiday since 2011.
