President receives UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On June 16, President of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh received UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix.
The President expressed gratitude to the Under-Secretary-General
for his support and participation in the initiative to host the International
Conference on Women, Peace, and Security on the occasion of the 20th anniversary
of the Mongolian military's participation in UN peacekeeping
operations. He also conveyed his greetings to UN Secretary-General
Antonio Guterres.
He noted that Mongolia attaches great importance to the implementation of UN
peacekeeping initiatives, including the UN Secretary-General's mission to
modernize and increase access and efficiency of peacekeeping
operations. He then expressed full support for the initiative and
expressed his willingness to work with the UN Department of Peace Operations to
expand the participation of the Mongolian Armed Forces and increase the number
of women peacekeepers.
While conveying the greetings of Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to the President, Under-Secretary-General Jean-Pierre Lacroix thanked Mongolia for attaching importance to multilateral relations and cooperation and organizing high-level international conferences amid the difficult international situation.
He congratulated the Mongolian military on the 20th anniversary
of its participation in the UN peacekeeping operation and praised their
performance, professionalism, discipline, and organization. He noted
that Mongolia is making an important contribution to strengthening
international peace and stability, building trust in the region, and increasing
the role, influence, and importance of the UN Peacekeeping Operations.
