PM meets CEO of Transparency International
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On October 12, Prime Minister of Mongolia L.Oyun-Erdene held a meeting with CEO of Transparency International Daniel Eriksson.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the current state of cooperation between the government of Mongolia and Transparency International and future prospects.
After presenting the measures being taken to eliminate corruption and improve the corruption index of Mongolia, the Prime Minister informed that the Mongolian Government drafted a law on the legal status of whistleblowers of criminal acts and submitted it to the State Great Khural (Parliament) for discussion. He also spoke about the progress of digitalizing government services, making reforms to state-owned enterprises toughening punishment for corruption and malfeasance, and ensuring budget transparency.
For his part, the CEO of Transparency International emphasized the importance of respecting human rights, expanding civic space, and ensuring transparency in the mining sector.
The meeting also touched on the possibilities of cooperation in the direction of strengthening the protection of human rights and the expansion of civic space in Mongolia.
