This Year Marks 50th Anniversary of Mongolia-Canada Diplomatic Relations

Ulaanbaatar, February 20, 2023 /MONTSAME/. On February 15, Mongolian Ambassador to Canada Ya. Ariunbold met
with the Speaker of the House of
Commons of Canada Anthony Rota.
During the
meeting, the sides emphasized the fact that this year marks the 50th
anniversary of Mongolia-Canada Diplomatic Relations and exchanged views on
history, present stage, and further development of our two countries’
relations. In addition, the sides mutually expressed their interest in
strengthening the cooperation between organizations that directly report to the
Parliament while highlighting the significance of support of the supreme
legislative bodies and their mutual understanding.
Similarities between Canada and Mongolia
are cold climates, vast landscapes with small populations, large neighbors, and
abundant mineral resources. Based on these similarities, both sides agreed on
the possibilities of exchanging experiences on infrastructure standards, public
service, and improving control systems.
Other areas
presenting potential opportunities for deeper cooperation include agriculture,
Canadian investment in Mongolia, trade, and student exchanges. To that extent,
the sides expressed their willingness to translate these opportunities into
reality.
