Green Space in Khentii Aimag Increased by 29.5 Percent
One Billion Trees
Ulaanbaatar,
March 1, 2023 /MONTSAME/. In
the framework of the “One Billion Tree” national campaign, Khentii aimag
has expanded its green space area by 29.5 hectares.
The “Let’s Plant Trees”
subprogram was initiated in Khentii aimag and over 147 thousand trees have been
planted in 18 soum and five villages. More than 20 thousand individuals, 905
enterprises, and 3418 households (double counting) joined forces to plant trees
within the work of this subprogram.
In addition, the area of 0.5
hectares was equipped with an irrigation system, while the area of 27 hectares
was protected by 38 km of fences.
As a result of the national
campaign, 595 temporary jobs have been created in Khentii aimag, 50 of which
were filled by Alternative Service Workers. According to the tree census conducted
by the Governor’s office of the Khentii aimag in cooperation with Senior
Citizen’s Committee, the tree survival rate is 96.5 percent.
