Ulaanbaatar Hosting World Jiu-Jitsu Championship

July 11, 2023 /MONTSAME/ The 20th World Jiu-Jitsu
Championship starts today at Steppe Arena in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of
Mongolia.
In the "Ulaanbaatar-2023" World Championship, over
500 athletes from 41 countries are competing including, Mongolia, Algeria,
Bangladesh, Belgium, Canada, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Germany, Congo, Portugal,
Colombia, France, Italy, Greece, Indonesia, Iraq, Israel, South Korea, Bahrain,
Philippines, Uzbekistan, Jordan, Thailand, Denmark, Montenegro, Slovenia,
Serbia, Netherlands, Kyrgyzstan, Austria, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Sweden,
Switzerland, Taiwan, UAE, USA and Vietnam.
The prestigious tournament, which is being
organized for the first time in Mongolia, begins with the masters' category and will take place until July 20.
A total of 32 referees from 26 countries are working at the 20th Jiu-Jitsu World Championship, one of which is an International "B" class referee from Mongolia Munkh Timurtogoo, a jiu-jitsu black belt athlete. He started his career as a referee in 2018 and "Ulaanbaatar-2023" is his first world championship as a referee.
On the sidelines of the Championship the Congress of the Jiu-Jitsu International Federation was held on July 15 with the participation of JJIF President Panagiotis Theodoropoulos, Director General Joachim Thumfart, and other officials and representatives.
