State Great Khural Opens its Autumn Session

The regular autumn
session of the State Great Khural commenced today. The opening ceremony
was attended by the Prime Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai, the heads of foreign diplomatic missions in Mongolia and heads
of Government agencies appointed by the State Great Khural.
In
his opening remarks, Chairman of the State Great Khural Zandanshatar Gombojav
highlighted that this Session is starting at a time of social tension, expectations
of the next year’s parliamentary elections, and autumn works for the harvest
completion and winter preparations. “Mongolia's
politics is passing the transition to be reformed. The Constitution is the
pillar of democracy of Mongolia, every Mongolian is hoping for a bright future, anticipating
completely new political climate with the amendments to the Constitution, a new
electoral system, and new law on political parties. We must revive the
amendments of the Constitution entirely.”
The
Speaker also noted the positive economic tendency that exports reaching a
historic high, foreign exchange reserves exceeding USD 4 billion, and GDP per
capita USD 5,000.
According
to the Law on the State Great Khural of Mongolia, article 18.1, the regular
autumn session of the State Great Kural shall convene on October 1st and the
regular spring session on March 15th, each session to last for at least 75
working days.
