Prime Minister of Mongolia Meets Chinese Premier
PoliticsBishkek, October 31, 2023 /MONTSAME/. On October 26, 2023, Prime Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai held a meeting with the Premier of the People's Republic of China Li Qiang in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
The two Prime Ministers had previously convened in Beijing four months ago, engaging in in-depth discussions on Mongolia-China relations and cooperation. The Heads of Government had also agreed in principle to embark on a new chapter of cooperation in 2024. At their recent meeting, the two Premiers commended the positive strides made by the relevant institutions of both countries in the interim.
The two parties expressed their satisfaction with the deepening of all-round cooperation between Mongolia and China, rooted in a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. They noted the increased frequency of reciprocal high and the highest level visits, enhanced political trust, and the expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation.
Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene highlighted the successful progress of the rail connection between the border ports of Mongolia and China. He expressed eagerness to further collaborate in the areas of environmental protection, green development, and tourism. Additionally, Mr. Oyun-Erdene expressed an interest in jointly implementing road and public transport projects in Ulaanbaatar.
Premier Li Qiang of the State Council of the People's Republic of China acknowledged the active and evolving nature of China-Mongolia relations and cooperation in recent years, which have tangible benefits for the citizens of both countries. He expressed gratitude for Mongolia's commitment to this cooperation and pledged support for Mongolia's proposed initiatives. He also expressed readiness to advance border port connectivity, collaborate on green development, and engage in closer multilateral cooperation.
As part of the Economic Corridor Program involving Mongolia, China, and Russia, joint projects include the modernization of Mongolia's central axis railway, the construction of the Altanbulag-Zamiin-Uud highway, and the establishment of a natural gas pipeline from Russia to China through Mongolia's territory. The two sides agreed to progress these initiatives.
Prime Minister L. Oyun-Erdene extended an invitation to Chinese State Council Premier Li Qiang to visit Mongolia at his convenience.
