Seventh Asian and Pacific Population Conference Takes Place in Bangkok

The Seventh Asian and Pacific Population Conference is taking place at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand from November 15-17, 2023, organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP) in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Asia and the Pacific.
Under the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, the Conference addresses ensuring population development, health, poverty eradication, sanitation, nutrition, and education. The countries in the region face challenges and opportunities such as shrinking labour force, population ageing, increased internal and international migration, gender equality as well as inequalities and vulnerabilities that have been exacerbated by climate change. The Conference also reviews the implementation of the Asian and Pacific Ministerial Declaration on Population and Development and the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development in the region.
Deputy Foreign Minister Amartuvshin Gombosuren took part in the high-level discussion and expressed the position of Mongolia on the Asian and Pacific Ministerial Declaration on Population and Development, achievements of the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development, and the progress of key actions in the Asia-Pacific region.
