Memorandum of Cooperation Signed with the Office of the National Assembly of Hungary

Ulaanbaatar, May 30, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Secretary-General of the State Great Khural (Parliament) of Mongolia Dr. Enkhbat Damdin, who is on a visit to Hungary and Secretary-General of the Office of the National Assembly of Hungary György Such signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on May 29, 2024.
 

G.Zandanshatar, Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia, initiated the talks to establish this memorandum during his visit to Hungary last March, at the invitation of László Kövér, Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary. Under the the Memorandum, the parties agreed to cooperate in a wide range of areas including increasing the transparency and accountability of parliament, studying the structure, organization, and functions of standing committees, comparing the legal frameworks regulating the operations of the two parliaments, and learning from best practices in electronic parliament systems, libraries, and research institutions.


At the signing ceremony, D. Enkhbat expressed his satisfaction at being in Budapest, the ancient capital of Hungary, to open new doors for cooperation between the parliaments and their offices. He emphasized the importance of close cooperation between the offices and parliamentary friendship groups in strengthening the interparliamentary relations. He also expressed gratitude for the mutual agreement to intensify multifaceted cooperation between the offices and establish this MoU, which would serve as a basis for implementing experience exchange programs for the staff of the offices and conducting joint research in the legislative field.


György Such, Secretary-General of the Office of the National Assembly of Hungary, highlighted the significance of the Memorandum and expressed confidence that the scope of cooperation between the offices of the two parliaments would continue to expand. He assured that efforts would be made to fully implement the Memorandum and to organize effective programs annually on relevant issues.


The meeting and signing ceremony were attended by Head of the Standing Committee Affairs Division of the Legal Department of the Secretariat of the State Great Khural Agar-Erdene Gankhuyag. During the visit, meetings were held with the leaders and relevant officials of the Culture and Education Department, the Legal Department, and the Finance and Administration Department of the Office of the National Assembly of Hungary to study and exchange information on their activities, including parliamentary education programs, the process of drafting and approving legislation, human resource selection, and budget discipline, reports the Media and Public Relations Department of the State Great Khural.
