Continuing Cooperation with South Korea's "Asan" Medical Center

Ulaanbaatar, June 20, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The First Central Hospital of Mongolia held an online meeting today to extend its cooperation agreement with South Korea's "Asan" Medical Center.


General Director of the First Central Hospital of Mongolia, Medical Doctor B. Khishigjargal, Head of the Organ Transplant Center B. Bat-Ireedui, and Foreign Relations Specialist B. Gereltuya participated in the meeting from Mongolian part, while the "Asan" Medical Center was represented by Head of the International Relations Department Kwan Kim, Senior International Relations Manager Christina Han, and International Medical Coordinator L. Purevsuren.


During the meeting, the General Director of the First Central Hospital of Mongolia, Medical Doctor B. Khishigjargal, stated, "Thanks to our longstanding cooperation, we have successfully localized liver transplant technology in Mongolia. As of today, we have successfully performed liver transplants on 270 patients." He expressed the eagerness to continue the collaboration with the "Asan" Medical Center.


According to the cooperation agreement, the "Asan" Medical Center will cover the accommodation, tuition fees, and food expenses for Mongolian doctors and specialists training in South Korea. The parties also discussed expanding the scope of their collaboration and agreed to renew the agreement soon.


Last year, a total of 24 doctors and medical professionals from the First Central Hospital studied in South Korea in fields such as liver and pancreas transplantation, anesthesia, intensive care (ECMO), endocrinology, gastroenterology, diagnostic imaging, and endoscopy.


Since 2010, the First Central Hospital has been collaborating with the "Asan" Medical Center to train and improve the skills of Mongolian doctors and specialists in organ transplantation.
