Meet the Mongolian Judokas Competing at the Paris Olympics

Ulaanbaatar, July 17, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The International Judo Federation has officially announced the athletes who will compete in the Olympic Games Paris 2024.


A total of 378 judokas from 122 countries across five continents will compete for 15 sets of medals. Among these athletes, 192 are men and 186 are women. In the men's seven weight categories, the 81 kg category will see the most participants with 33 judokas, while the +100 kg category will have the fewest with 23 judokas. For the women, the -78 kg category will have the fewest competitors with 22 judokas, while the 48 kg category will be the most contested with 31 athletes competing.


Ten athletes from Mongolia, both men and women, will compete in five weight categories, as well as in the mixed team category.

There are 11 countries fielding more than ten athletes for the judo competition at the Paris Olympics. Specifically, the teams from Mongolia, Brazil, Japan, South Korea, France, Italy, Israel, Georgia, Germany, the Netherlands, and Uzbekistan will have more than ten athletes each. Among these, France and Japan will compete with a full team, meaning they will have both men and women participating in all seven weight categories.


The draw for the Olympic judo tournament will be held on July 26th. The competition will then take place from July 27th to August 2nd. Group matches will start at 10:00 Paris time. Medal matches will begin at 16:00.


There are nine days until the opening of the Paris Olympics and ten days until the start of the judo competition.
