Fifteen Mongolians to Pursue Master's Degree in Japan Through JDS Scholarship

Ulaanbaatar, August 6, 2024 /MONTSAME/. A Farewell Ceremony was held on August 2, 2024, at the Embassy of Japan in Mongolia for the 23rd batch of master's students and the eighth batch of doctoral students embarking on their studies under the JDS Scholarship Program for Human Resource Development. 


This Japanese Grant Aid Scholarship Program aims at contributing to the social and economic development of countries by accepting outstanding young administrative officials who are expected to become future leaders in the target countries as international students at Japanese graduate schools and upon returning home, they will be active in planning and implementing social and economic development programs as human resources with specialized knowledge gained during their study in Japan. The Program has been successfully implemented since 1999.


The Program is implemented in 20 countries, primarily in Southeast Asia. Over 6,000 students have studied in Japan through this Program. In Mongolia, where it launched in 2001, 416 graduates have contributed to various social sectors, including government agencies and the central bank. Of these graduates, 374 hold master's degrees, while six have earned doctorates.


A total of 15 Mongolian students will participate in the 23rd batch of the JDS program to pursue master's degree in Japan. The students will be studying at Saitama University (2 students), Meiji University (2 students), Kyushu University (1 student), Hiroshima University (2 students), International University of Japan (4 students), Nagaoka University of Technology (1 student), and Tsukuba University (3 students).


Additionally, one student will be studying at Saitama University as part of the eighth batch of the doctoral program launched in Mongolia in 2016. The Embassy of Japan expressed its hope that these students will make significant contributions to their home country upon returning, further strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries.
