Drones to be Manufactured in Mongolia Using South Korean Technology

Ulaanbaatar, December 3, 2024 /MONTSAME/. A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the National Association of Drone Developers of Mongolia and the Association for Unmanned Vehicles of the Republic of Korea.


The Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation, and Communications expressed its support for creating a legal and regulatory environment related to drones in Mongolia, the exchange of information in this area, and policy support for the exchange of drone technology, know-how, and related information.


Minister of Digital Development, Innovation, and Communications Baatarkhuu Tsend noted that the Ministry aims at drone development, creating a legal environment, and establishing a special drone zone. Specifically, it intends to submit the draft Law on Drones during the spring session of the Parliament, train drone operators, and introduce drones in agriculture, environmental protection, and delivery. The Memorandum of Understanding signed today opens a new chapter in the technology sector, emphasized the Minister.



Moreover, the “Blue Sky Drone” and “Sundori Drone” companies agreed to establish a memorandum of understanding to introduce South Korean technology to manufacture and develop drones in Mongolia. Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Drone Developers B. Munkhbolor said, “We plan to manufacture five types of drones suitable for Mongolian conditions starting next spring. These will be environmental and agricultural drones as well as drones designed for remote learning, and emergency. We intend to introduce South Korean technological know-how and manufacture drones with a payload of 20-30 kg that can operate at minus 25-35 degrees Celsius.”


According to the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation, and Communications, the South Korean side expressed its readiness to share experiences in creating a legal environment for drones and technological solutions for drone production and cooperate in training drone operators.
