Management to Ensure Implementation of Regional Development Policy Discussed

Ulaanbaatar, January 7, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Cabinet Secretariat, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, the Konrad-Adenauer Foundation, and the National Committee for Regional Development jointly organized a discussion on “Ensuring the Implementation of Regional Development Policy” at the State Palace on January 6, 2025.

 

Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia and Chairman of the National Committee for Regional Development Amarsaikhan Sainbuyan noted, “The regional development policy will have a great impact on the socio-economic development of Mongolia and the quality of life of its citizens. Holding a vast territory and abundant natural resources, we have great potential to rapidly increase our competitiveness in many economic sectors such as agriculture, energy, and tourism. Therefore, by properly implementing the regional development policy, we aim to put local resources into economic circulation, boost investment and development conforming with the characteristics of each region and aimag, increase employment, and improve the regional business environment to create an internationally competitive region. In this context, it is necessary to create an integrated system of regional development management and public-private cooperation."


"Ensuring the participation of government organizations at all levels, the private sector, and citizens is crucial to successfully implementing the regional development policy. To this end, it is necessary to clearly define the management and coordination mechanism for policy implementation and to make the cooperation between the National Committee and local governments effective. In addition to the participation of government institutions at all levels, the private sector, and citizens, the involvement of scholars and international organizations is vital for the achievement of the goal," Mr. Amarsaikhan emphasized.

 

Present at the discussion were more than 100 representatives from relevant ministries and agencies, offices of the Citizens Representative Khural of aimags and Capital City, and development policy and planning departments in the aimags and the Capital.
