Ulaanbaatar, March 12, 2025 /MONTSAME/. One of Mongolia’s top auto and motorcycle sports athletes, Honored Athlete of Mongolia Khaliunbold Erdenebileg has returned to his home country. He recently competed successfully in the World Rally-Raid Championship held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Currently, Khaliunbold lives and trains in Las Vegas, United States of America. Before his departure back to the U.S.A, we had the pleasure of having a brief conversation with him on March 11, 2025.

You recently competed in the World Rally-Raid Championship. Could you please briefly tell us about the Championship?

I took a break from riding motorcycles for about two years due to an injury. Since then, over the past three years, I have gradually started riding my motorcycle again to get back into shape. I am happy to begin my new career with the series race held in Abu Dhabi, UAE. I finished 14th overall and placed 7th in two rally categories.

You mentioned that you are starting a new journey. Have you planned your next competition?

The Championship I participated in consisted of three series. This recent race helped me gain a lot of understanding and valuable experience. Therefore, I am keen to participate in the remaining two series.

You previously raced in motocross, but I heard that you are planning to compete in the Dakar Rally. Could you please share more about that?

Since both involve riding motorcycles, there are similarities. However, rally racing covers long distances, so I need to improve my planning skills and navigation work. Competing in the Dakar Rally is entirely a team effort, so I will focus on strengthening that aspect. Of course, I will also prepare physically. I am planning to implement the project "From the Mongol Steppe to Dakar." As part of this project, I plan to make a documentary about my journey as an athlete. The main goal is to realistically portray the endurance and resilience of an athlete and show how mental strength contributes to success. I want to highlight the immense effort and dedication of the many people working behind the scenes to support an athlete’s career.

What advice would you give to young people interested in motorcycle sports?

Many young riders reach out to me through phone calls and messages, asking for advice. However, learning over the phone and training in person is completely different. That’s why I plan to return to Mongolia this summer and organize training sessions for young riders.
