Ulaanbaatar, March 19, 2025 /MONTSAME/. A discussion was held on the draft Action Plan for Reducing Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Risks on March 19, 2025.

Although Mongolia has joined International Conventions related to CBRN and has established a legal framework, Mongolia still faces challenges including a lack of integrated policy planning and the need to strengthen technical and human resource capacities.

Since 2024, the P101 Project has been implemented through the Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC) to enhance the protection and security of critical infrastructure at risk of CBRN threats. Additionally, with funding from the European Union, three projects have been carried out in cooperation with the CBRN Centers of Excellence and the International Science and Technology Center. Specifically, under the P53, P65, and P87 Projects, necessary equipment has been supplied, regional cooperation has been expanded, experiences have been shared, and both in-person and online practical training sessions have been conducted, involving more than 2,000 officials.

Representatives from 24 organizations are participating in the two-day discussion.
