Standing Committee on Industrialization Policy of the Parliament of Mongolia and the Korean Development Institute Exchange Views on Cooperation

Ulaanbaatar, March 22, 2025 /MONTSAME/. On March 20, 2025 Head of the Standing Committee on Industrialization Policy of the State Great Khural (Parliament) of Mongolia Ganbaatar Sainkhuu met with Senior Advisor at the Korea Development Institute (KDI) Mr. Han Hoon, and researchers from the Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP) of the Republic of Korea.
Under the Knowledge Sharing Program, KDI, in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources of Mongolia, is implementing a research project to develop a policy framework for Mongolia’s heavy industry. Previously, between 2022 and 2023, KDI conducted a study on industrial and technology park development in Mongolia, which helped shape the Regional Development Concept adopted by Parliament in 2024.
Head of the Standing Committee on Industrialization Policy Ganbaatar Sainkhuu expressed gratitude for South Korea’s past support and emphasized Mongolia’s need to acquire expertise in industrial management, technology, and global market expansion. The Head of the Standing Committee highlighted that building local expertise would ease investment and financing challenges. He also stressed the importance of learning from South Korea’s digital procurement system for government tenders, identifying it as a priority area for cooperation.
KDI Senior Advisor Han Hoon provided an overview of KDI and the Knowledge Sharing Program and informed that the research project on Mongolia’s heavy industry policy framework is scheduled for completion in September 2025. Furthermore, he expressed commitment to evaluating Mongolia-South Korea projects to enhance future collaboration.
