Mongolia to Host 17th World Horseback Archery Championship

Ulaanbaatar, June 26, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The "Nomads" World Cultural Festival will be held for the fourth time from August 22 to 24, 2025, at the foot of Taij Khaikhan Mountain in the 3rd khoroo of Nalaikh District, Ulaanbaatar.
The highlight of this year’s festival is the inclusion of the Mongolian traditional archery discipline, “Bumbug Namnaa” (Ball Hunting), as an official category in the World Championship for the first time. Over 170 elite archers from 30 countries are planned to participate. The event marks a significant step in promoting Mongolian equestrian sports and cultural heritage internationally and advancing cultural and sports cooperation to the next stage.
The Mongolian National Horseback Archery Federation is organizing the championship. In addition to 15 top archers from Mongolia, internationally accredited judges, officials from UNESCO, and the World Horseback Archery Federation are planning to attend the event.
The event aims to contribute to the implementation of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage adopted in 2003, Article 39.2 of the Law on the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Mongolia, and Government Resolution No. 41 issued on January 25, 2024.
The organization of the 17th World Horseback Archery Championship in Mongolia is expected to be one of the key highlights of the festival, according to the Culture and Arts Authority of Mongolia.
