Men’s team wins silver Cup in Wrestling Asian Championship
SportsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Our national team for freestyle wrestling has competed in the 2016 Wrestling Asian Championship, which took place this February 17-21 in Bangkok of Thailand.
State Honored Sportswoman and three-time World Championship medalist O.Burmaa, and a silver medalist of the World Championships D.Otgontsetseg IMS captured gold medals in the women’s 75kg and 55kg weight categories. Other women--E.Gantuya, O.Oyuntuya and Z.Bolortungalag-- grabbed bronze medals.
International master of sports O.Uitumen won a silver medal in the men’s -86kg division of freestyle wrestling. He was defeated by Iranian, Olympic bronze medalist Ehsan Lashgari at the finals.
Other six wrestlers grabbed bronze medals in the men’s 57, 61, 65, 70, 97 and 125kg weight categories.
With 63 points collected, the men’s freestyle team of Mongolia took the second place in the 2016 Asian Championship, receiving the Silver Cup. The Iranian team won the men’s contests with 73 points, winning five gold medals.
