Crimes decrease
SocietyUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In the first quarter of this year, 7,200 crimes were registered at a national level, reflecting a decrease of 676 crimes or 8.6% compared with the same period of the previous year.
This decrease was mainly due to decreases of crime against human life and health by 212, crimes against the rules of safety of traffic and use of motor vehicles by 158, economic crimes by 112 and crime against the right of ownership decreased by 88 compared to same period of the previous year.
In March 2016, the number of crimes reached 2,577, increasing by 262 or 11.3% against the same period of previous year.
In the same period, the detection rate of crimes declined by 0.1 units at national level, and it increased by 0.1 units in the capital city, against the previous year.
The number of crimes involved children decreased in the first quarter of 2016 by 19 or 8.7%, the crimes involved women--by 172 or 17.7%, crimes in groups--by 176 or 25.7%, and alcohol-related crimes--by 206 or 12.9% against the previous year.
Due to the crimes happened in the period, 223 people were killed, and 2,545 people got injured. The number of death by crimes declined by 112 or 33.4%, while the number of injured--by 312 or 10.9% against the previous year.
In first three months of 2016, the amount of damage caused by crimes reached MNT 20.2 billion, and the recovered money to the damages--MNT 6.6 billion. In this period, the number of victims by the crimes reached 6.8 thousand. 268 or 3.9% of them were children aged up to 18 years old, and 2,777 or 40.9% of them were women.
At a national level, 23.2 thousand people went to the sobering-up stations, and 1,409 people were arrested in the first quarter of 2016. The number of the people in the station, and the arrested decreased by 10.0% and 63.8%, respectively.
Due to violence in families, 400 crimes were registered in 1st quarter of 2016, showing an increase of 126 or 46.0% against the previous year.
In the period, there were 221 cases of cattle-lifting, amounting for 3.1% of total crimes, and it declined by 250 or 53.1% against the previous year.
