Hakuho claims 1000th win
SportsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The 69th Yokozuna, the grand champion of the professional sumo, “Hakuho” M.Davaajargal claimed his 1000th win on November 15, the third day of Kyushu Basho. With a thousand wins, Hakuho is now ranked at third place in the history of professional sumo.
His predecessors Ozeki-titled Kaio won 1,047 bouts between 1988 and 2011 and Yokozuna-titled Chiyonofuji defeated his rivals in 1,045 bouts between 1970 and 1991.
“A son of Mongolia has reached a same level of accomplishment with two legendary Japanese sumo champions. I wanted to share this moment with you. A thousand wins are a representation of my hardwork and the value of every drop of sweat. I have overcome pain and injuries to achieve this success. I am happy to share my happiness with the Mongolians and sumo enthusiasts all over the world. I will be more committed to winning the further bouts. Please always have support for me”, he said.
