Winners of national kickboxing tournament awarded

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The 18th national kickboxing tournament took place in Ulaanbaatar between April 21 and 23. After numerous fierce battles, Darkhan-Uul aimag’s A-1 club athletes, under the coaching of S.Amgalanjargal, won the cup and became national champions for the first time from Darkhan-Uul aimag. A total of 140 athletes from 23 fighting clubs competed in 18 different weight categories.
With the total team score, “A-1” club won first place while “Ikher beelii” club, under the coaching of G.Ganzorig, acquired the second place and Kickboxing Committee of Khuvsgul aimag with coach M.Erdenetuya scooped the third place.
Throughout the tournament, the skills of young athletes have generally improved this year and the number of female kickboxers has visibly increased. Also, the fact that the winning team was from Darkhan-Uul aimag shows the increasing influence of kickboxing in the region.
The athletes who’ve shown promising result in the tournament will be able to participate in the ”2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games”, which will take place in Turkmenistan in September, 2017.
