Mongolian powerlifters collect 17 medals from Asian Powerlifting Championship

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Asian Powerlifting Championship 2017 is taking place in West Java, Indonesia from May 1 to 5. As of now, Mongolian athletes have won 17 medals from the championship.

5 Mongolian athletes are participating in the two weight classes of under and over 120 kilograms today on May 5. Led by D.Battulga, Secretary General at the Mongolian United Powerlifting Federation, a total of 14 athletes are participating in the championship. In the senior’s 93 kg weight class, S.Munkh-Erdene won silver medals with squats and bench press while D.Uuyganbayar won gold medal with squats and silver with bench press in Master’s 105 kg. Moreover, B.Dashzeveg also won 2 gold medals with squats and deadlift and bronze with bench press in 93kg.

Overpowering other contestants, M.Galtsaikhan won triple gold medals with squats, bench press and deadlift in the senior’s 93 kg weight class. Repeating his achievement, T.Chakhar also brought home triple gold medals in the master’s 74 kg. Meanwhile, D.Batsaikhan (in the master’s 66 kg) and A.Erdenetsogt (in the junior’s 59kg) have won silver medals with bench press. Last but not least, Sh.Batzul snatched silver medal with bench press and bronze with deadlift in the 105 kg weight class.
