Rio Olympic silver medalist D.Sumiya becomes world champion

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Team Mongolia has brought home a gold medal from the Judo World Championships taking place in Budapest .
The gold medal was won in women’s -57 kg competition by Rio Olympic silver medalist Sumiya Dorjsuren. The State Honored Sportswoman claimed victory after defeating Japanese judoka Tsukasa Yoshida in a match that lasted 12 minutes 56 seconds.
Sumiya becomes Mongolia’s fourth world champion, second woman champion in judo, and the fourth Mongolian judoka to win two medals from world championships.
Furthermore, G.Odbayar won a bronze medal in men’s -73 kg competition, becoming the 12th Mongolian judoka to secure a medal from world championships.
In the first three days of the championships, Mongolia has bagged 1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals, ranking second among 126 countries.
