Mongolian judokas top IJF rankings

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Judokas of the Mongolian national team were listed at top places according to the latest rankings of the International Judo Federation (IJF), which were released on September 4 after results of the 2017 World Judo Championships held from August 28 to September 3 in Budapest, Hungary.

By the rankings, D.Sumiya, a gold medalist of the 2017 World Championships, topped the women’s ranking of -57 kg weight category, while M.Urantsetseg, a silver medalist of the Championships, also led the women’s below 48 kg division. As results of the World Championships, D.Sumiya got 2,000 extra points and M.Urantsetseg--1,400 points.

Other Mongolians were ranked at higher places within first ten places. A State Honored Sportsman and 2014 World Champion G.Boldbaatar went up to fourth place in the men’s -60 kg with 2,561 points thanks to grabbing a bronze medal in the 2017 World Championships. G.Odbayar, an international master of sports and WC bronze medalist, was listed at fourth place in the men’s -73 kg weight category.

An Olympic champion N.Tuvshinbayar, who made his debut at the men’s above 100 kg contest, was ranked 26th place in this division after claiming a bronze medal in the 2017 WC. Another Mongolian B.Mungunchimeg stepped up to the sixth place with 2,121 points in the women’s -63 kg category.
