Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ World champion, Rio Olympic silver medalist, judoka D.Sumiya won a gold medal at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam-2017.
The State Honored Athlete claimed victory over her Brazilian opponent Rafaela Silva in women’s -57 kg weight category. D.Sumiya lost to Rafaela Silva at a gold medal match at the Rio Summer Olympics.
"World number one Sumiya found herself in golden score--like she was when she defeated Yoshida Tsukasa (Japan) in the world final-- and threw Silva with a ippon seoi-nage and the Brazilian was eventually rolled over onto her back for a waza-ari. In a battle of the red backpatch versus the gold backpatch, Sumiya extended her head-to-head record over her arch-rival to 5-2," the International Judo Federation described the rematch.
The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam wraps up on October 28.
