Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ On December 10, Day of Democracy and Human Rights, a tribute was paid, laying wreaths to the monument of Prof. Batmunkh Jamba, Mongolia’s prominent state figure  and former Chairman of the Council of Ministers of then-Mongolian People’s Republic. He was the leader of Mongolia during its transition into democracy in 1990.

Relatives of late J.Batmunkh and officials of the Mongolian People’s Party, led by Secretary General D. Amarbayasgalan, were present at the event.

J.Batmunkh is considered to have put a basis to develop democracy through peaceful way. In early 1990, the first democratic alliance had a hunger strike and demanded the communist government to resign. At that critical time, Batmunkh decreed to resign MPRP’s Politburo and maintained a strict policy of never using force.
