Mongolia legalizes organ donation after death

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Parliament has adopted a revised bill on Donor, legalizing organ donation after death in Mongolia.
The revised Law on Donor clarifies the authority and responsibility of a designated Regulation Unit, which will be in charge of coordinating donation of cells, tissue and organ, rendering professional assistance, determining brain death, establishing a database and monitoring. In compliance with procedures to be adopted by the corresponding organization, the Unit will handle registration, selection, distribution, preservation and transportation of organs for donation.
In compliance with the Law, citizens aged 25 will be able to decide if they agree to organ donation in case of brain death.
