Number of domestic tourists reaches two million

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Domestic tourism in Mongolia is intensifying in recent years and number of travelers is raising year to year. The International Tourism Development Center of Mongolia conducted a statistical survey on Mongolians' travel at home. The information related to entrance tickets into tourism zones was used in the survey.
In 2016 and 2017, more than two million Mongolians traveled through their homeland. Over 500.000 citizens visited Aglag Buteel Monastery and Gorkhi-Terelj National Park last year while number of visitors to Khuvsgul Lake reached 5000-7000 during Naadam holidays. Almost 15000 domestic travelers visited the ice festival ‘Blue Pearl’ which was held in March, 2017.
Whereas 54000 domestic tourists traveled to Khamar Monastery, 40000 to Erdenezuu Monastery, 20000 to Khustai National Park and 15000 to Ulaan Tsutgalan waterfall in Orkhon Valley in 2017. 3000 people took part in a ceremony took place in Amarbayasgalant Monastery and the same number of people traveled in Dadal soum in Khentii aimag, birthplace of Chinggis Khaan last year.
Mongolia gained profit of USD400 million from tourism in 2017 and number of tourists come to Mongolia reached 470.000 last year.
