Yak herders' consultation to be held once in five years

Umnugobi /MONTSAME/ The 2nd consultation meeting of yak herders took place on May 9 in Dalanzadgad soum of Umnugobi aimag and attendees decided to organize the consultation once in five years regularly.
Governors of nine soums which raise yaks, agricultural specialists and yak herders took part in the meeting with aims to define pressing issues to yak herders and to discuss ways to increase productivity of yaks. They also exchanged views on improving yak wool preparation, raising wool price, preventing herd of yak from diseases as well as promoting yak festival combining with tourism.
More than 1000 heads of yak were counted at the end of 2017 in Umnugobi province, which means up by 17 percent or by 175 heads compared to 2016. Bayandalai soum has the largest number or 453 head of yaks.
