Chess players from 16 Asian countries to compete in Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Under the auspices of Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Ya.Sanjmyatav, ‘Asian Juniors Chess Championship-2018’ is to be held in Ulaanbaatar on August 17-26. Organizing Committee of the tournament today had a meeting at the State Palace.
Currently, 46 players from 15 countries including Australia, China, India, South Korea, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Nepal, Singapore, Bangladesh and Iran have submitted their applications. From Mongolia, 70 players are registered to participate in the championship. Furthermore, ‘Mongolian open-2018’, ‘Future Olympics-2018’ and ‘Senior Chess Championship-2018’ are to take place in scope of the ‘Asian Juniors Chess Championship-2018’. Ts.Tsogbayar, Secretary General of the Organizing Committee, announced that 400 players filed their applications to compete in these tournaments.
At the beginning of the meeting, First Deputy President of the Mongolian Chess Federation and Parliamentary Deputy Speaker Ya.Sanjmyatav said "It is said that chess originated from Mongolia. Hence, organizing this international tournament in Mongolia is of great significance. Mongolian players can raise their ranks and enhance their skills by participating in the tournament being held in their home country. The World Chess Federation and the Asian Chess Federation giving Mongolia the opportunity to host this tournament indicates the development of chess in the country. We may organize World Chess Championship next year if we successfully host this event"
