Best Mongolian athletes of 2018 announced
SportsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The annual award ceremony ‘Burte Chono’ took place for the 16th year in the evening of December 21 at the Central Cultural Palace.
Annually, the Burte Chono winners are selected among the Mongolian athletes and
sports clubs, unions in categories of the ‘Best of the Best Athletes of the Year’, ‘Best
Sports Team’, ‘Best Athlete of the Year’, ‘Best Coach’, ‘Best Referee’, ‘Best Sports
Club’, ‘Best President of Sports Union’, ‘Best Sports Union’, and ‘Best Olympic
Committee’.
This year, the award and a perpetual trophy of the ‘Best of the Best Female Athletes of the Year’ went to the bronze medalist of the World Championships and 11-times National
Champion of the National Boxing Championships M.Nandintsetseg. In 2018, boxer M.Nandintsetseg
has become the first Mongolian female medalist of World Championships, winning the
bronze medal. As for the ‘Best of the
Best Male Athletes of the Year’, judoka L.Otgonbaatar was selected.
The Best Female Athletes of the Year were wrestler O.Nasanburmaa who marked her fourth World Championships medal after winning the silver medal at the 2018 Wrestling World Championships and air rifle shooter G.Nandinzaya who claimed the gold and bronze medals at the 18th Asian Games in Palembang, Indonesia.
Also, athletes E.Tsendbaatar who won the gold medal in Boxing event and U.Duurenbayar who won the silver medal in Judo event at the 18th Asian Games became the ‘Best Male Athlete of the Year’.
Among sports teams, the
Mongolian National Ice Hockey Team was selected as the ‘Best Sports Team’ with
their achievement of winning the gold medal at the Asian Challenge Cup 2018.
President of the Mongolian Archery Association P.Tsagaan was
honored with the ‘Best President’ award and received ‘Burte Chono’ prize.
