Prime Minister meets Ambassador of Canada

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh met with
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Mongolia Catherine
Ivkoff to discuss relations and cooperation between the two countries.
The PM said, “Canada is an important third neighbor to
Mongolia. We appreciate that the country has been implementing projects to
improve mining management, strengthen public service capacity, empower girls
and women, and promote gender equality in Mongolia as part of its international
development program. They have made substantial contributions to the
country’s social and economic development. Therefore, we seek to further expand
the cooperation”
It was also noted at the meeting that the two countries can closely cooperate and share experience and technologies in agriculture as both countries have similar climate and Canada is a major food producer.
Voicing her pleasure with bilateral cooperation, Ambassador
Catherine Ivkoff underlined that the Government of Mongolia has been successfully
keeping Covid-19 from spreading and that Mongolia has become one of the few
countries preventing Covid-19 spread and pledged support to proposals by the PM to advance cooperation between the two countries.
The USD 1.9 billion investment from Canada in Mongolia in 2019 makes up around 65 percent of the overall foreign investments made in the year. As part of the country’s international development program, six projects totaling around CAD 40 million are being carried out in Mongolia from 2016 to 2023.
